Please use this thread to let me know things that need to be enabled. Like, what are the things you would like to see in user-profiles, or what type of content would you like? Other things that come up: logo's and special blocks on the right?

One feature request for much further on down the road:

Since hitchhiking is perceived as so much more dangerous in the US, my dad suggested that we have a section of the website that logs picture messages, text messages, and other stuff sent from mobile phones. That way people could send in a photo of the license plate of their most recent ride, or at least text the plate. If nothing else, it could get someone sketchy to behave nicely upon hearing "I texted your license plate number to all my friends and could set them calling 911 with one more text..."

Heheh, over-stereotyping acknowledged, I wonder how many Europeans will read that and laugh and say, "oh, you silly paranoid Americans."

To have a place where logged in people can send images OR plate numbers with time stamps. But to use that against a driver who has stopped for you is fairly insulting in my opinion. Why even get in the car in the first place? Or if they do 'weird you out' ask to get out ov the car. And to 'threaten' a driver with a possibility ov calling the emergency number isn't right either. i fully agree with your father in taking preventive measures, but when it crosses a line, i wonder if embracing chance has been over-ridden by fear/conditioning/media-programming. Why not just work your life to buy a plane ticket directly to your hotel room and watch the waves crashing on the sandy beach from the couch?

Right-o, Reese - I'd only "threaten" a driver if I were ever threatened myself - certainly not right off the bat! But suppose you ask to get out of the car and they say no... it'll probably never happen, but it sure does show up a lot in movies and urban legends.

My only requests for now is to have the top bar re-ordered to Home:What:Where:Who:Why:How:Wiki:Press:Eu (or something of that sense, if there can be a forum link direct, that would be great to).

And, I really like the user block in the eu version, with Am I coming? and photo and such.

Lastly, once we have a good title piece maybe we can use it as the Home link and it can annouce the date and Hitch Gathering at the same time.

You should now have the rigths to change the menu-bar yourself by going here: http://na.hitchgathering.org/admin/build/menu-customize/primary-links

Let me know if that works. You should also be able to add a forum link there.

I will work on the user block as soon as you have a picture to go with your profile!

What about North America Hitchgathering 2010 as a title and a random block of slogans under it? That's exactly how I did it at the eu-site. You can then yourself submit the slogans that appear under it.

A nice small logo would be great to have though. Like the 6-8-10 one.

i only say that because i've got mine up now. Nya-nya :-p

But seriously, the Forum tab would be great. And i do like the idea ov the "i am coming!" window. The Languages is not on the top ov the list as ov yet, but im guessing Spanish and French would be the next ones?? Then ovcourse people translating them.
im also wondering if you could explain to me how to add pictures to the posts??
And last but not least, ive commented in EU about how there is no NA tab to connect "you" with "us", where as we can connect direct. If there were some sort ov floating announcements about how the 2 sites are inter-linked to get some cross-chatter and more excitement.

In the 'What' section, it explains 'how it all started' and a further description in regards to 789. Well, instead ov just Asking people to check out the YouTube links, whether 888 or 789, could it be a hyper-link directly, preferably to the actual video hosted site?(i guess Fabrice and Misha would have that, eh?) i know i'm the type ov person to click on things like that instead ov getting side-tracked from reading posts by opening a new window. But also having these links promoted farther up so they are noticed, instead ov buried in the middle ov the page might draw awareness. The same goes for the Viva Con Aqua, RoadJunky, Tramprennen2010 and any other site that promotes our ideology.

Also, as for the side windows, i see how nice it is over there on EU with all the "Upcoming Events" links.
