Where - Boulder, Colorado

The North American Hitch Gathering is taking place in Boulder, Colorado this year on August 21st. We will meet up at the Bandshell at Canyon Boulevard and North Broadway, right next to the Farmer's Market (8am-2pm) (just a few blocks from the bus station, in case you opted for public transport from Denver). If it rains really hard, mosey a couple blocks downstream along the Boulder Creek Path until you're under the library skywalk - we'll be hunkered down there. That afternoon, we'll all hitch out of town to a nice place in Nature where we can gather together, camp and live for a few days, a place where we can be free and well, a place where Rainbow Gatherings have happened in the past. Location is forthcoming today!

There will also be a preliminary meeting in Denver on the 20th of August. We'll meet up in Civic Center Park, the crossroads of Denver. Hopefully the benches on the upper level, near the stairs down, will be dry, but if the weather is too rainy, we'll be under the amphitheater on the lower level. This pre-day gathering is for those that arrive early, those that are interested in meeting hitchhikers and travelers in an accessible location in Denver, and for anyone interested.
Around 11 or noon, at least some of us will make the 1.5 mile trek (will anyone pick up a hitchhiker in the city? It's worth a try!) east along Colfax (aka 15th Ave.) to #2023, the SAME cafe, a pay-what-you-want, volunteers-welcome eatery. We'll return to SAME for dinner, around 6 or 7pm, which will provide a nice place to meet up with friends, hosts, CouchSurfers and other HospEx folks, and have an affordable dinner. Suggestions welcome for after-plans. The next day we will gather somewhere (see forum if you know of a good way to hitch from Denver to Boudler) and all Hitch together to Boulder (20 kilometers away). We're envisioning a great group of people all leaving together, maybe with media involved, and off to Boulder we go!
